Getting this Zombie decimated and then he's off to TopoGun for retopology!

WIP Zombie 3

Still working on my ZBrush Zombie in-between other work. I decided to completely overhaul the shirt and spent a lot of time on it. Now I think I'm ready to move on with this character. Still needs some general clean-up before polypainting and retopologizing!

More work on this guy, refined the face and sculpted the feet while looking at amazing reference from the movie Warm Bodies.       I had to detach his head from his body to get more detail. More to come soon!

Belated Blog Update

Image
Hi everyone! I've been preoccupied with freelance work these past months and that has left my blog severely neglected. Sadly, I don't have anything I can share from my recent gigs but here is what I've been working on during the very little free time I have. I wanted to expand my portfolio and I've always wanted to create an MMO style character. After doing some brainstorming I decided I would design my own version of Princess Zelda. I'm attempting to take all of her styles over the years and merge them into something unique. I had a lot of fun creating the clothes for this one and they posed some interesting challenges. I hope to share some tutorials soon regarding cloth and some tricks I learned recently to help with the process. If you're interested please let me know! jason@peacock3d.com That's what I've been up to, how about you?

Keyshot Skin Material

Image
So after completing the very cool Rendering Organic Models in ZBrush and Keyshot tutorial with Peter Minister I decided to play around a bit with the Skin materials in Keyshot. So I dusted off this old sculpt I never finished, cleaned her up, polypainted some skin and imported her into Keyshot. Here are the results: I am absolutely ecstatic with what I got with a little bit of tweaking to the default skin material! I've never got such a realistic looking skin result with such little setup. It could still use a little more work (I think the SSS translucency is a little high) but now I'm ready to pose her, give her some hair and make some really nice images.

Learning Keyshot

Image
I've been seeing some amazing images around ZBrushCentral and the web rendered in Keyshot. I decided to spend some time today learning the software and I'm glad I did! While it has some limitations it makes beautiful images with very little effort. I especially love the included environment lighting setups. Just import your model and maps, select a lighting setup and hit render! And here it is, my first Keyshot render! It was great being able to play with the light and materials in realtime. I'm really excited to get into Keyshot and will definitely be using it for beauty renders in the future. Give Keyshot a try for free, you won't regret it!
