Stan Winston School of Character Arts Dinosaur Contest

Image
So the deadline for the Stan Winston School of Character Arts dinosaur contest was this morning! Here is my final entry for the competition. I didn't finish what I had set out to accomplish with this image such as texturing and adding foliage, but overall I'm proud of what I was able to achieve in 5 days. I'll be posting more progress shots and some nice VRay renders soon. To check out my entry and leave me feedback go to You Didn't Say the Magic Word . Thanks everyone!

Dilophosaurus Progress 3

I'm still hard at work on my dinosaur! Today I spent most of my time adding scale detail to the head and creating the neck piece. I also watched a few tutorials on fibermesh so that I can make some grass for my presentation.

Dilophosaurus Progress 2

I've been working on this non-stop! Here is what I completed yesterday: I added claws, teeth and a tongue using a few primitives I created in Maya. I also sculpted the inside of the mouth and started roughing in some scales on the head. I still have a long to-do list for this guy but I'm confident I'll have him posed and ready to go for the Tuesday deadline!

I started detailing my dinosaur head tonight. Now I'll be adding in scales and refining the rough details I've started. Everything is coming along nicely so far!

Dinosaur Art Contest

Image
The Stan Winston School of Character Arts is holding a dinosaur art contest until April 16th and I am very excited to participate! I'm going to sculpt and render a dilophosaurus (or "spitter" for you Jurassic Park fans) using ZBrush. I have a folder full of dino reference and I'm ready to go! Here's a little preview of the anatomy block-in I've got so far. I'll post more progress shots as I go.
